Founded sometime in the late 21st century, The Amerigon Farmers of Science began as a non-profit, agricultural supergroup. Made up of all sorts of engineers, botanists, and an array of agricultural scientists, T.A.F.O.S.’s main objective was to figure out a way to genetically engineer crops to thrive even in the most extreme and undernourished environments.
One of the first successful products created by T.A.F.O.S. was a peanut that could grow almost anywhere. Even if the ground was completely dry and hardened by the never-ending glare of the sun, this particular nut could survive. Made from harvested raw materials, micro-organisms, and some unspecified chemicals - this particular variety of peanut saved tens of thousands of Amerigon families from starvation. This invention alone propelled the company to the top of the global market.
Over the course of the next century, T.A.F.O.S. evolved into the most innovative science company ever. It invented, patented and produced everything from low-cost flying bicycles to a communication chip that you could stick on your brain and talk to anyone at any time. At the peak of its success, T.A.F.O.S. was mass producing highly advanced, technologically superior research vessels for the United Places of Amerigo’s government.
On board each of these research vessels were a crew of three scientists, two United Places Marines, and the Captain. The scientists were responsible for collecting and studying a variety of specimens from the different regions of space they were assigned to explore. Specimens included soil samples, rare minerals, and the DNA of all newly discovered organisms. The scientists were also responsible for making detailed assessments on the livability of each planet or moon they explored. They would then promptly communicate anything noteworthy back to T.A.F.O.S. Headquarters.
